Unforgettable family holidays in Africa

We specialise in crafting enriching family adventures that open minds, strengthen bonds, and have a positive impact on the people and places along the way.

We recently returned from a two week trip in Namibia with our three children. The whole experience was exceptional. Polly’s passion for travel and great knowledge of the country helped shape what was a truly unforgettable and unique experience that the whole family will remember.

Thank you, Polly, for giving our family the adventure of a lifetime in Mozambique. From whale shark snorkeling to surf beaches and deep sea fishing, every detail was perfect. It gave us a much-needed digital detox and unforgettable time together with our four kids. We came home reconnected, refreshed, and full of amazing memories!

Thank you so much Polly for organising our amazing family adventure to Namibia this year. Our kids will be talking about all the fun things we did together for years to come!

What a dream family holiday we had in South Africa planned by Journey South. The combination of safari in the Waterberg followed by adventures in Cape Town and the Winelands was the perfect October half term break. Packed with magical moments, you masterminded everything meticulously and gave us everything we had hoped for and more!

  • The beautiful leopard we saw at Kwandwe Private Game reserve.

Five facts about Leopards:

- Leopards love chilling in trees and often pull their prey up there too.

- They're so stealthy, you’ll rarely see them even when they’re nearby.

- Most active after dark, with night vision 6x better than ours!

- They can sprint at 58 km/h and leap over 6 metres!

- Each leopard has a unique spot pattern, like a fingerprint.

  • Went to feed the ostriches in Outshoorn. Left with one less earring and a mild distrust in these large birds!

Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo in South Africa is famously known as the "ostrich capital of the world." In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the town boomed thanks to the global demand for ostrich feathers. Wealthy ostrich barons built grand "feather palaces," many of which still stand. Today you can explore working ostrich farms, learn about the quirky history of the feather trade and feed the ostriches (at your peril 😂)

  • A gem in the Cape Winelands - the newly refurbished Spier Hotel! Set among trees and surrounded nature, it’s relaxed, very welcoming, and perfectly positioned to explore Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.

There’s a huge beautiful pool, big open lawns for games and downtime, and beautifully redone family rooms that feel both stylish and comfortable.

Being right next to Spier Wine Farm means there’s loads to do — from eagle encounters and art walks to wine/ grape juice tastings, lawn picnics, and even Segway tours through the vineyards.

As the day winds down, you can enjoy sundowners on the rooftop bar with views of the Jonkershoek Mountains glowing pink as the sun sets, followed by a delicious dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

This is family travel in the Winelands at its best, easy, beautiful, full of fresh air, nature, and really delicious food.

Thank you @spierwinefarm for letting me experience your incredible new spaces, I’ll be back with the family!

  • A Cape Town micro adventure- climbing Chapmans Peak. In my opinion it has the best views- Hout Bay, Noordhoek beach and across to the other side of false bay! It’s not a particularly hard hike and only takes 2 hours!
