In Etosha National Park in the North of the country, meaning ‘the great white place’ has one of the largest salt pans on earth, and offers exceptional game viewing in the winter months (July-October) as all the animals gather around the waterholes. You can get very close to them in your vehicle, which is great for the children. It is perfect for self drives, guided walks, and even night safaris. If you are up for a real adventure, you can explore the remote and rugged Damaraland, where desert-adapted elephants and rhinos roam.

Active Adventures

For families looking for active adventures, Namibia is a playground for outdoor activities. The towering sand dunes of Sossusvlei invite you to climb and sandboard down their slopes, while the Fish River Canyon offers breathtaking hiking trails with panoramic views. The adventurous can try quadbiking or horseriding in the Namib Desert, hot airballoning at sunrise over sossusvlei, kayaking alongside playful seals in Walvis Bay, and mountain biking in the Erongo mountains.
